Pinwale corduroy is a lighter weight corduroy that is typically used for shirts, dresses, or lightweight pants and is easier to sew than a heavier-weight corduroy.
Corduroy (French for cord of the King) is a sturdy yet supple high-quality fabric. The width of the cord in corduroy is the size of the wale, or the number of ridges per inch. Traditional corduroy is usually 10 to 12 wale; the higher the wale, the thinner the width of the wale.
